Student-initiated Placements

Some students undertake internships (or other form of student placement) which they initiate and for which they do not receive academic credit towards their degree.
These internships will only be covered by the University’s insurances, if there is evidence that:

  1. the internship (or other form of student placement) is relevant to a student’s studies; and
  2. the evidence of relevance has been approved by a delegated authority.

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences has an approved process to establish the evidence and approval to ensure insurance cover for these student-initiated internships.
Please contact your School or Departmental UG or PG Academic Student Placement/ Internship Coordinator for further information.
