Biographical details

I am an archaeologist specialized in the archaeology of Southwest Asia with long-standing on-site experience in Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan. My research focuses on the functioning of early human societies in an interdisciplinary and diachronic perspective, looking at human – environment as well as human – technology interactions and the role of innovations therein. As a sideline, I am interested in the history of archaeology in Southwest Asia within its historical and political context. My on-going field research in the Mil Steppe of Azerbaijan Republic is a highly interdisciplinary project that aims to reconstruct the development of a micro landscape through time.
