With 21 single and combined undergraduate degrees and more than 45 majors to choose from (including 15 Languages), and 27 postgraduate coursework programs spanning traditional and emerging disciplines, as well as the countless array of research opportunities - we offer the most comprehensive range of humanities and social science programs in Australia. We also offer a flexible program to learn a language alongside your degree with the Diploma of Language Studies.

Our ArtSS Career-Ready program offers you exclusive paid placements with many leading industry organisations including Allianz, Westpac and KPMG. Internships are a key component for many of our programs including Archaeology, Media and Communication, Art History and Museum Studies.

International focus

We encourage you to experience the world while studying in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. In 2016, we launched the first dual-degree programs in Australia, offering students the opportunity to study at Sciences Po in France and in the Bachelor of International and Global Studies program, students have a compulsory international exchange in their third year.

There are also further opportunities to participate in the University of Sydney’s International Exchange Program, allowing you to undertake part of your degree from a choice of over 230 universities worldwide.


With an estimated collection of more than 4.5 million items as well as a range of sophisticated electronic information services, the University of Sydney library is one of the largest in the southern hemisphere. In addition, the faculty has an extensive library resource for language study and educational technology, video and audio production, web and multimedia development, videoconferencing and satellite television. We continue to improve student facilities with a new building for social sciences to be completed in 2017.
